Dear Friends,
We hope this finds you well and enjoying the beautiful summer season. As a valued member of the Clear Lake community, we are writing to share an exciting and unique opportunity that stands before us—a chance to leave an indelible legacy for generations to come by donating generously to the CLYC Legacy Fund for Our Generational Community.
The Clear Lake Yacht Club (CLYC) and our Sailing School have been integral parts of our community, fostering a deep appreciation for sailing, camaraderie, and the natural beauty of our lake. CLYC makes Clear Lake unique in Steuben County for Social activities as well as Sailing, Skiing and Tennis/Pickleball clubs available for our members. Our programs have touched the lives of countless families, creating memories and friendships that span generations. Today, we have the chance to ensure that this tradition continues to flourish by enhancing our facilities and securing a prime piece of lakefront property which will avoid a permanent landlock for the Club.
Community Legacy: Building for Generations: Clear Lake Yacht Club and Sailing School have always been more than just a place to gather and sail. They are cornerstones of our community, where values of teamwork, discipline, and respect for nature are passed down from generation to generation. Ask your fellow members their Clear Lake Story and you will find many with histories which go back over 70 years. By supporting our fundraising campaign, you will be contributing to a legacy that will benefit our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Once-in-a-Lifetime Opportunity: We have the unique opportunity to acquire 60 feet of prime lake frontage adjacent to the Yacht Club. This land acquisition will allow us to expand our facilities and enhance the experiences we offer to our members and guests. It is truly a once-in-a-lifetime chance to secure and preserve this beautiful piece of Clear Lake for the benefit of our entire community.
Enhanced CLYC Facilities: A Vision for the Future: Our vision includes the construction of the CLYC Family Pavilion, additional parking spaces, and a storage shed, all designed to blend seamlessly with the existing landscape. These enhancements will provide much-needed space for the Club, our programs, events, and gatherings, ensuring that CLYC and the Sailing School can continue to thrive and grow.
Environmental Conservation: In consultation with the Clear Lake Township Land Conservancy, we are committed to maintaining the natural beauty of our surroundings. Our project will be executed with the utmost care and respect for the environment, preserving the charm of Clear Lake for future generations. Additionally, CLYC will provide access to the new Family Pavilion for community programs such as the Knee-High Naturalists.
A Call for Your Support: To realize this vision, we need to raise $800,000 by the end of 2024 for land acquisition and improvements. As a contingency, one of our members has generously offered to loan CLYC the $600,000 to acquire the land this year allowing fundraising to continue into 2025 if required. We are reaching out to you, our valued Clear Lake community members, to ask for your generous financial support. We are partnering with the Steuben County Community Foundation (SCCF) to assist with the donation processing. Your tax-deductible contribution to the CLYC Legacy Fund for Our Generational Community at SCCF, a qualified 501(c)(3), will make a legacy impact for our once-in-a- lifetime opportunity to extend the legacy of community for generations at Clear Lake. CLYC is also grateful to club member, Greg Reynolds of Reynolds Wealth Management, for donating his expertise to assist donors with donation and tax strategies for our Legacy Campaign.
Together, we can create a legacy of generational community at Clear Lake. Your support will ensure that the Clear Lake Yacht Club remains vibrant and welcoming places for all who seek to enjoy the beauty and camaraderie of Clear Lake. Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a difference. We look forward to partnering with you to secure the success of the CLYC Legacy Fund for Our Generational Community.
Warm regards,
Commodore Mike Kellermeier
