Tennis/Pickleball Club
The Tennis and Pickleball Club within the Clear Lake Yacht Club is an active community of racquet enthusiasts. Becoming a Tennis and Pickleball member allows for unlimited playing time for you and your lake visitors on our newly resurfaced hard courts. The courts are open from Memorial Day through mid-October. Courts may be open earlier as weather permits. We have two dedicated tennis courts, two dedicated pickleball courts, and one “flex” court that is painted to accommodate either another tennis or two more pickleball courts as daily needs change. Our Tennis and Pickleball members are comprised of all levels, from new players to highly competitive. Pickleball usually has open play each morning. Open tennis doubles are typically on Saturdays; other games are pre-arranged. The courts are not lit for night play. Each July, we have a Youth Tennis Camp to encourage young players age 7 and up to learn tennis basics or to improve their skills. These camps are typically an hour long for 5-6 days. They have been a staple at CLYC for over 20 years and are usually led by Tennis members who volunteer their time. This year, we have invited a local tennis coach to lead the sessions with help from our Tennis member volunteers. We welcome new tennis and pickleball members, and try to make it easy for them to find playing opportunities. See you on the courts! For more information, contact Jan Matasick (jmatasick@gmail.com)
Sailing Club
The Sailing Club is a great way to get your competitive side flowing! Learn about sailing and racing sailboats while sharing in camaraderie with people of the same interests. If you are curious about sailing but do not know how, come join us as a crew member for a race on a C Scow or Flying Scot or ask about our Adult Sailing Clinics. For the youth, sign up for one of our two Sailing Camp sessions, June 21st & 22nd or July 12th and 13th. The Sailing Club races a Championship Series for any class of sailboat every Saturday at 11am from Memorial Day through Labor Day. These races last around 1 hour and 15 min. In addition, the Flying Scots race on Sundays at 11am from July 4 through Labor Day. These races last around 1 hour. There are also small boat races (typically sunfish) on Sunday afternoons starting at the end of July through August. If you’re not up for racing, come over and enjoy the fun after the races at the Club, or enjoy watching the fun from your boat or patio. Please send any inquiries to CLYCSailingSchool@gmail.com or contact Chris Hughes.
Ski Club
The Clear Lake Ski Club was founded over 60 years ago as a subgroup of the Clear Lake Yacht Club. Weekly meetings are held on Saturday mornings at the Clear Lake Yacht Club during the summer months. Members range from 8-18 years old. As a Ski Club member, kids can improve upon ski skills while learning new ones like barefooting or kneeboard tricks. Members will practice the skiing acts they will perform during the ski show at the end of the summer. We often like to challenge kids to try new acts like ski jump or pyramids. This is an excellent opportunity for teambuilding, confidence boosting and making lifelong friendships. Aside from weekly practices, we have fun activities such as scavenger hunts, movie nights and fundraising events. New this year we are offering a ski school to help kids improve their skill set at all levels. Session 1 June 23rd and June 24th Session II on July 14th and July 15th email Trey McArdle at threclovers@hotmail.com for more information on Ski School.
